WALLACE STENSON

Wallace R. Stenson of Neenah, age 84, joined his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 26, 2014 while spending the weekend at his cabin in Townsend, WI. Wally was born on November 17, 1929 in Tomahawk, WI, son of the late Wallace W. and Marion Stenson. He graduated from Menasha High School in 1947 and served his country in the US Army, 2nd Armored "Hell on Wheels" Division while stationed in Germany during the Korean War. On May 23, 1953, he married June Ann (Hanke) Stenson, who preceded him in death on September 28, 2007. They resided in Neenah, several years in Lawrence, KS and then in 1964 they permanently settled in Neenah. Wally was employed at the Vinland Corporation and later the Menasha Corporation, as a Facility Maintenance Foreman. Wally was a member of the Fox Valley Beagle Club for many years and enjoyed raising, training and competing beagles. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family at the cabin and watching the Milwaukee Brewers. He was an active member and volunteer of Appleton Alliance Church. Wally was a loving father and grandfather. He had a positive attitude, a caring and helpful servant's heart and was loved by all who knew him. Survivors include his two sons: Randy (Barbara) Stenson, Lake Mills; Robert (Nancy) Stenson, Manitowoc; granddaughter, Jennifer Stenson, Manitowoc; brother, Victor (Myrna) Stenson, Locust Grove, GA; sister-in-law, Karen Stenson, Menasha; and his later-in-life companion, Joan Rausch. He is preceded in death by one brother, James Stenson. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Monday, August 4th, at Appleton Alliance Church, 2693 Grand Chute Blvd, with Pastor Dick Schaefer officiating. Please use the West Gate Entrance. The visitation will be held at the church from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
