Obituary
Ronald William Wittman, 93, of Menasha, WI, was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend. Leading a life defined by service, craftsmanship, and a deep love for family. On September 17, 1955 he married Shirley (Jacob) in Neenah. They made their home in Menasha, WI, where they later raised their daughters.
A proud veteran, he served his country during the Korean War, carrying that sense of duty and integrity with him throughout his life. After returning home, he continued his commitment to service through a long and dedicated career with the Menasha Police Department, where he served the community for over 30 years. He also was active in the Knights of Columbus and the Disabled American Veterans (DVA).
Outside of work, he found joy in the simple and meaningful things. He was an accomplished woodworker who took pride in creating with his hands, often spending hours in his workshop crafting pieces that reflected his patience and attention to detail. Weekends at the cottage were treasured, filled with card games, conversation, and time spent driving the grandkids around on the paths. He also loved road trips in the motor home touring the very county he served to protect.
Family was at the center of everything he did. He was especially devoted to his wife, caring for her in her final years. He was known for his jokes, warm smile, and his insistence on always paying for lunch.
Ronald is survived by his children Cindy (Patrick) O’Connor, Gwen (Wayne) Van Asten; his grandchildren Beth (Bradley) Jones, Tracy Van Asten, Callum (Hannah) O’Connor, Keira O’Connor; his great-grandchildren Kallan and Ruth Jones, Olivia, Bennett, and Brooks O’Connor; his sister-in-law Margaret (Jacob) Behling, and his special friend Jane Binder.
Ronald is predeceased by his wife of 65 years Shirley, his parents Edward and Agnes (Wolf) Wittmann; his siblings Robert (Deloris Lau) Wittmann, Roland (Grace Apitz) Wittmann; and in-laws Steve Jacob, John Jacob, Dotti Jacob and Jim Behling.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Menasha. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial .
