Obituary

Richard F. Wilms died Thursday morning, August 10, 2923. He was 92 years old, having been born on January 24, 1931 in Neenah, Wisconsin. Richard was the oldest of six children born to Floyd and Elizabeth (Jones) Wilms. Richard attended Lakeview School and graduated from Neenah High School. After graduation, Richard stayed on the farm. He worked with his father and his brothers operating the Windmere Dairy and Milk Delivery Service. He later worked in the construction business for several years. Richard was a member of the US Army and served in Korea.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles; brother, Franklyn; and sister, Janet Pruet; as well as by his brother-in-law, Gene Umland.

Richard is survived by his sisters: Rachael Umland of Summerfield, Florida; and Susan (James) Waid of Waupaca. He is further survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Richard was well known by his friends and neighbors for his knowledge of the history of Neenah, especially of the south side.

A memorial service for Richard will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the hour of service. Richard will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah.

The family would like to thank the staff of Peabody Manor for the excellent care they provided to Dick during his nine-year stay there following his stroke. The family would also like to express their appreciation for the staff at Birch Cottage as well as the social workers and the ladies from the Activities Department for helping Dick through some difficult times during his stay.

When I did visit some people I knew  now have gone before me His deceased brotherFrank  and I would go visit the cowboys fan in his  Room.Hey Dick until we meet again RIP and Go cowboys  Thank you for your army service in KOREA

My condolences to the family. I personally did not know Richard but did know his sister Susie. We rode the high school bus together and she was the receptionist at Bergstrom Paper when I was working there. I lived with my mom and dad in the first house south of your farm and still remember the family putting up corn shocks in the field next to us.

My deepest sympathy to Dick's family. I met Dick and his brother Frank when I worked at Lakeview Credit Union's Bell Street Office. They were the best neighbors and friends to the entire staff. They knew our names, watched out for our safety and were always very personable. Rest in peace Dick.
