KATHLEEN WOOLF

Kathleen S. Woolf, age 93, of Neenah, Wisconsin passed away on February 3, 2019 after a brief illness. She was born on September 19, 1925 to Clarence and Elizabeth (Meyers) Stitzel in Lanark, IL. After graduating from the Swedish-American School of Nursing in Rockford, IL, Kathleen married Giles H. Woolf on October 24,1947 in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Kathleen was employed by Theda Clark Hospital, Neenah as a registered nurse from 1970 until 1992. She enjoyed caring for her patients and working in recovery. She also worked with the chemically dependent as a Head Nurse. Good health was always important to her. As a nearly 30 year breast cancer survivor, she was dedicated to staying active. Even in her later years walking was her passion.

Kathleen was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church for many years. She attended many bible studies and served with others in the kitchen. Also, she enjoyed reading from the lectern many times, even into her nineties. She felt very blessed to have made very many long-lasting friendships through her church. Other special social groups Kathleen was a member of would include the historic Tuesday Club of Neenah, as well as her bridge club of over 50 years.

During her 27 years of retirement, Kathleen enjoyed travel; the performing arts with her husband Giles; as well as being an artist in needlework, sewing, and knitting; reading; and playing bridge.  She enjoyed living at Island Shores the last six years of her life.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was devoted to her family and touched many lives with her kindness. She was a woman of faith and had many friendships. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially time hosting many birthdays and holidays and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Forrest Stitzel, sister Eleanore (Stitzel) Ramsdell, her son David, son-in-law Gary Helein, daughter-in-law Kathy Woolf, granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Krause, and her loving husband of 66 years, Giles.

Survivors include many loved ones, including her son Stephen Woolf; daughters: Elizabeth Woolf (Dan Krause), Margaret (Steven) Verkuilen, Katharine Helein, and Theresa (Kevin) Hungerford.  She has 12 grandchildren: Adam Krause (Ellie Burke), Ryan Krause, Philip Krause, Sarah (Matthew) Kuehmichel, Daniel (Megan) Woolf, Kellie (James) Smillie, Brad (Jeni) Johnson, Andrea (Clint) Woldt, Rachelle (Jake) Munes, Josh Helein, Molly Hungerford and Jonah Hungerford.  Kathleen also had 17 great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Service for Kathleen will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church (226 Washington Street, Menasha) with Rev. Ralph Osborne officiating.  Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name.
