HOWARD DRUMM

          Howard Gust Drumm, 83, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, June 5^th 2021. Howard, son of the late Theresa (Lemberger) and Gustave “Ditto” Drumm, grew up in the Time Tavern (recently Walleyes Pub) on the corner of 6^th Ave and Michigan in Oshkosh. The tavern was started by Ditto's father (also named Gustave) who was originally from Prussia.

          Howard was an Oshkosh boy through and through, swimming and fishing the Fox River as a boy while attending St. Vincent Catholic School.  Howard told many stories of the hunters and fishermen who frequented the neighborhood tavern.

           Howard joined the US Navy at 17, serving aboard the USS William H. Wood (DDR 715) and USS Vogelsang (DD 862) as a fire controlman from 1955-1959, with deployments to the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and North Sea.

            After the Navy, Howard worked for a time at Buckstaff Furniture with his uncle George Lemberger. Always interested in electro-mechanical things, Howard earned a bachelor's degree and numerous associate degrees in various industrial applications from MSOE and other technical schools throughout his life. He worked at Rockwell International, Giddings and Lewis, Chilton Metal Products, and spent many years at Kimberly-Clark primarily as an electrical technician. He installed or fixed numerous manufacturing lines at Huggies diaper plants located throughout the US and Canada. In his older years, he delivered meals through Advocap, where he loved to talk to the people he served.

            Hobbies included bowling, judo, and dancing, where he met Linda Haen, at a dance class in Oshkosh.  Both he and Linda enjoyed dancing together for the next 48 years of their marriage.  In that time, they had five children which Howard enjoyed traveling with and attending their extracurricular activities. He took great pride in their accomplishments. For fun, Howard read and deciphered thick technical manuals and dabbled with computers. He played a tough game of chess and enjoyed action movies. He also loved to sing, spending decades in various church choirs.

                 Howard is survived by his wife, Linda Drumm (nee Haen); Children: Eric (Jen) Drumm, Alex Drumm, Rachel (Josh) Blanke, David Drumm, and Mary Drumm; Grandchildren: Addison, Max, Will, Logan, and Leah; Nieces and Nephews: David (Marilyn) Frank, Carol (Don) Marshall, Debra Frank, Susan Frank, Paul (Allyson) Sippl, Ginny (Ken) Krohn; Brothers-in-law: Ray (Elaine) Haen, Paul (Linda) Haen, Doug (Vicky) Haen, Darrell (Sharon) Haen, and Kim Haen. Sisters-in-law: Betty Kobussen, Anna (Bob) Brick, Barbara (Terry) Huss, and Gloria (Pat) Kennedy.

            Preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jerome Haen; mother-in-law, Merzetha Haen; two older sisters: Lorraine (Tony) Golla and Ruth Sippl; brothers-in-law: David Haen, Charles “Carl” Frank, Howie DeCleene, Tony Golla, Ed Sippl, and David Kobussen; and a nephew Danny Sippl.

            The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 11, 2021, at St. Margraret Mary Catholic Church, 660, Division St., Neenah, with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating.  The visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.  Full Military Honors will be held with the Neenah Menasha Veterans Honor Guard.
