CHANDRA ZIMMER
September 30, 1983 - December 28, 2023
Obituary
Chandra Michelle Zimmer was born September 30, 1983, to Lynette and Jeffrey Zimmer in Appleton, Wisconsin. She resided in Neenah, Wisconsin. She graduated from Neenah High School in 2002. In November 2023, Chandra started a new job working as a driver delivering Amazon packages for Excelerated Delivery, Inc. She passed into the loving arms of Jesus at the age of 40 on December 28, 2023, while working and doing the job she loved.
Chandra's first job was at Macy's Department store and she took great pride in receiving perfect scores every time she had a secret shopper. She went on to serve at several different restaurants for many years. Her quick wit, outgoing personality, and exceptional service had regulars falling in love with her wherever she went. She loved her most recent job best of all. Even though she was sore and it was taking time for her body to adjust to the physical labor, she loved driving and delivering hundreds of packages each shift. She was so thankful for the many customers who left her sweet notes, treats and gifts during this year's busy Christmas season. She took pride in what she did, and she worked extremely hard to do her very best and deliver packages on time (even though she waited until Mary's water broke before starting her own Christmas shopping). Chandra was a great employee. Just ask her.
Chandra's favorite season was fall and she loved animals of all kinds. One of her favorite places to visit was our relatives' dairy farm in da UP. They had kitties, dogs, chickens, calves and her favorite animal of all, horses. Chandra learned how to ride as a young girl. Our neighbor, Janice, had horses and taught her everything she knew. Chandra ended up owning several horses during her short lifetime. Every chance she had she would go riding, as it brought her so much joy. On nearly every family vacation while growing up, there was a trail ride planned just for her.
Chandra was spunky, sarcastic, loyal, and loved fiercely. She had a sweet tooth and never turned down a sugary snack. She drank a little coffee with her creamer, much to her dad's dismay when the creamer container was empty. She was a perfectionist with some things like calendaring and scheduling, yet you couldn't see the floor of her bedroom under the mountain of clothes. She claimed to have a “built in compass” to help us find our way, yet somehow, we managed to get lost more often than not when she was navigating. There was never a true plan for anything and her timing for things was always labeled as “ish”. Promptness was not one of Chandra's strong suits and she was late for almost everything. We even tried telling her events started an hour or so earlier than they did to get her there on time. It never worked. Her family teased her that she would be late for her own funeral. We won't be surprised if the hearse has a flat tire on the way to the church. We loved her dearly, anyway.
On March 8, 2019, God blessed Chandra with a sweet baby boy, Brayden Jeffrey. Chandra was a very loving mother who enjoyed being silly and spending lots of quality time playing with her son. Some of their favorite activities included going to playlands and petting zoos, hitting golf balls from grandma and grandpa's septic mound system in the back yard, going to Pierce Park in Appleton (which he referred to as “mommy's favorite park”), fishing off the dock at Aunt Rhonda and Uncle David's house, doing messy crafts and playing board and card games. Even though Chandra hated baseball and made it well known she hoped her son would not want to play it, Brayden had other ideas. He LOVES that sport! So, being the good mommy she was, Chandra signed him up for t-ball last summer and took him to each of his games. She ran the bases right alongside him, helping to teach him the basics of the sport. Chandra enjoyed sharing her love of the farm with Brayden this past fall. They pet kittens and calves and had a blast riding with Cousin David on his BIG tractor. Brayden loves his mommy dearly and will sorely miss her. He was mommy's boy.
Chandra is survived by her parents, Lynette and Jeffrey Zimmer (Neenah, WI); her son, Brayden Bangert, and his father, Orrin Bangert (Sharon, WI); sister and brother-in-law, Cara and Jeremy Pool (West Jordan, Utah); her nephew and nieces, Liam, Tilly, and Addilynn Pool (West Jordan, Utah); grandparents, Pearl Zimmer (Appleton, WI) and Arlene and Gerald Smith (The Villages, FL); aunt and uncle, Rhonda and David Menor (Neenah, WI); cousins, Brandon and Calli Menor (Kenosha, WI) and Brittany Menor (Menomonie, WI); and countless other family members and friends.
Because Chandra accepted the Lord as her Savior when she was a young child, we know she's in heaven. If Gabriel looks around, he'll probably notice his horse is missing. One guess who's riding it.
In lieu of flowers, the family will be using memorial gifts to set up a trust fund for Chandra's four-year-old son, Brayden.
The visitation is Friday, January 5th from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. with an 11:00 am service to follow at Calvary Bible Church, 1450 Oakridge Rd, Neenah.
