LORRAINE BERRY
January 25, 1942 - February 07, 2024
Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend Lorraine Marie Berry, who peacefully passed away on February 7, 2024, at her family home in Neenah, WI. Lorraine was a very special soul who dedicated herself to her family and friends, leaving everyone feeling more loved after spending time with her. She will forever be remembered for her love and kindness.
Lorraine was born on January 25, 1942, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Pearson) Rogers, the middle sister between Lorelei & Norman Rogers. She spent her early years on the farm with no electricity, no running water, no indoor plumbing and no phone. In Lorraine's classic style, she never complained, and she cherished the days on the farm with family and her best friend Kaye.
After high school graduation, Lorraine set out on her own, finding employment and love in Regina. There she met David Berry and the two were married on December 7, 1963. Shortly thereafter, Lorraine and Dave started building their family, having their two sons Scott and Keith. Moving to the States was the next adventure for Lorraine.
Lorraine was a trailblazer from the start. She was active in all outdoor sports. She raised her boys with grace while running a one income household. Then she went back to work. She worked as administrative assistant for the Mechanical Contractors Association before starting a new path as massage therapist in the late 80s. After Dave's retirement, she became an entrepreneur. Moving to a gated community in Florida, she opened a massage therapy business serving golfers and snowbirds. After Dave's passing, Lorraine loved spending time with her family in Wisconsin's north woods. She would travel solo back to Canada to spend time with her brother and sister and their growing families. She loved those road trips “back home.” But if you asked Lorraine what she was most proud of, she would answer without hesitation. “The best thing I ever did was becoming a mom.” Lorraine loved raising her boys.
She was the rock and foundation of the Berry family. She was proud when her boys married. There are no words to express her joy and passion when she talked about her grandchildren. She was pure love and devotion. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Lorraine is survived by her brother; Norman (Lynn) Rogers, her sister; Lorelie Rogers; her sons Scott (Lynn) Berry, and Keith (Kelly) Berry; her grandchildren: Stewart (Shannon) Berry, Nora Berry and Nolan (Callee Engelmann) Berry. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews and all their children in Canada.
We would like to thank the ThedaCare at Home Hospice Team and a special thanks to Lexi and Claudia for their thoughtful, loving care, stimulating conversation and dedication to Lorraine.
A memorial service will take place on February 22, 2024, at Neenah's First United Methodist Church, 108 W. Doty Avenue. Visitation will begin at 10am and the service will be at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Lorraine's honor, to ThedaCare Family of Foundations-Hospice at 1818 North Mead Street, Appleton, WI 54911. https://thedacare.org/about-us/giving/
