Obituary

James “Sweeny” Swentner, 87, of Kaukauna, WI passed away on May 10, 2024. He was born February 4, 1937, to Harold & Lorraine (Gerhartz) Swentner in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Living in the Fox Valley his whole life, James worked for both Menasha Corp & the city of Neenah. In his earlier years James was on the Neenah High School track team and had a passion for sports throughout his entire life, particularly for the Badgers and Packers. His other passion was for cutting his grass! On google maps, should you search their old home you would find him sitting on his riding lawn mower in the front yard.

James is survived by his wife, Gloria Swentner, his daughter Lori (Jim) West; Son-in-Law Ron Smith; stepchildren Sharon (James) Gillen, Kathryn (Dennis) Papenfus, Lawrence (Sherry) Johnson, Susan (Daniel) Hanneman, and Kim Koss. James is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters Carol (Marvin) and Mary (Ralph).

He is preceded in death by his parents Harold & Lorraine Swentner, his daughter Diane Smith, and granddaughter Nicole Smith.

A graveside service and military honors will be held on Tuesday May 28th at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah, WI with Rev. Nate Buchner.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Sweeny's family. He was a dear friend to my dad Howie. Many memories of the good old days! God bless you all and rest in peace Sweeny!

Things I will always remember as your grand-daughter: Your kindness, your gentleness, your sweet nature, your love of Wisconsin sport teams, your love for candy, teasing me when I was younger by making up names for boyfriends I didn't have and making your crow "caw caw" sounds. My wish for you is that you are at peace and still enjoying all the things you love.

What do you say about a man that was married to your mother for over 40 years?  Will always love him for taking care of my mother. I have lots of memories of him most of them are when he would come to California. He always lost something like his wallet and I’d. But the best was how much he would get upset trying to order at the drive through at Jack-in- the box he could never understand what they were telling him  Rest in peace Jim love you always

The man was always ready to help ,loved cutting the grass and running his snowblower alway got popcorn from Dairy Queen when ever a packer game or Neenah rocket game was going on will be missed a lot

One day I came home and found a brand new snowblower in my garage. Who would buy me a new snowblower?  Was it delivered by mistake?  It was Jim.  He wanted  to be sure I could get out if we had a snowstorm.  He was also concerned that I had a safe reliable car.  He was very good to me and Brandon.

I Googled for fun my Moms and Jim’s house. There was Jim, doing what he loved. Sitting on his riding lawnmower cutting the grass. He was always there if you needed help. He could talk about the Packers nonstop. We will miss the Friday fish fry’s. Rest in pease.
