Obituary

Kathleen Ann Fitzgibbon

December 17, 1953 – May 14, 2024

Menasha, WI

Beloved sister, aunt and great aunt has left us and our hearts are broken.

Kathy was a kind, caring and very generous person who gave freely to others her time and resources.  A true heart of gold.  She loved the music of John Denver (having seen him in concert several times), her home and her cats Molly and Murphy.  A lifetime of memories we have – going to Wittman's to trampoline, riding horses at Meadows, all the family camping trips, Brewer games, her '72 olive green Chev Nova that she bought brand new from Gibson's in Menasha when she started working at Banta's shortly after graduation (and allowed Cindy and Tim to borrow it occasionally).  Travels to the Rocky Mountains, several states in the U.S. and a trip to Ireland with sister Cindy.

Sadly, the unexpected death of her longtime partner several years ago took an emotional toll on her and negatively affected her health.

We will always remember Kathy as the beautiful soul that she is – now free in the universe.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Sylvia, sister Carol, her longtime partner Gary Schwartzbauer, brother in law Paul Dempsey and her cats Molly and Murphy.

She is survived by siblings – sister Lynn Dempsey (WV); Cindy Fitzgibbon, Neenah; and Tim Fitzgibbon, Menasha; as well as nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, cousins.

“Oh, I will take you back Kathleen

To where your heart will feel no pain

And when the fields are fresh and green

I will take you to your home Kathleen”

Lyrics to the song “I'll take you home again, Kathleen” written by Thomas Paine Westendorf in 1875.  This song was referenced by “Dr. Bill” Hildebrand when Kathy entered this world.

Safe journey to you dear sister!

Aunt Kathy,  This one leaves me speechless and just unexpected. You were an amazing Aunt to us. I have nothing but great memories from our many trips to Wisconsin. You are loved and so missed.

Although related, I did not really "know" you. The words in the obit spoke volumes.
