STANLEY SEVERSON

Stanley E. Severson, Oshkosh, formerly of Neenah, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Evergreen Retirement Community. He was born December 8, 1912, in Neenah, son of the late Edward A. and Eva (Jorgensen) Severson. He resided in Neenah until moving to Evergreen Village in Oshkosh in 1995. His father was an early Postmaster of Neenah and a long time fuel and building materials merchant. Stanley was educated in the Neenah school system and graduated from Lawrence University in 1934. He began a 41 year career with the then George Banta Book Publishing Company as a payroll clerk and he retired in 1975 as a Vice President and Corporate director, having served in many phases of the printing company. Shortly after his retirement he became President and CEO of the Neenah West Bank before retiring again. Stanley was a life member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Neenah, and served as an officer or director of many organizations including the Banta Corporation, Theda Clark Medical Center, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Wisconsin, Neenah West Bank, the Boys and Girls Brigade, the Community Chest and Neenah Club. He was also a member of Rotary, the Neenah Historical Society, Phi Delta Theta fraternity and North Shore Golf Club. Stanley and the former Dorothy Brown were married in 1937 in Neenah. They have two children: Sue (Don) Emerich, Middleton, WI, and Rev. John (Lynne Gollnow) Severson, Northfield, MN. He is further survived by four grandchildren: Ellie Emerich McGraw, Roswell, GA, John D. Emerich, Newnan, GA, Kate Emerich, Denver, and Eric Severson, Minneapolis; and four great-grandchildren. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; a brother, Donald; and a grandson, Peter Severson. A memorial service will be held on April 3. A obituary will run at that time with the times and place of service. Memorials have been established for the Boys and Girls Brigade of Neenah-Menasha and the Evergreen Foundation of Oshkosh.
